The Housing Authority of the County of Kern(HACK) is a Public Housing Agency created by the County Board of Supervisors in 1939, whose mission is “to improve the quality of life for low-income residents by providing safe, affordable housing and by assisting residents towards self-sufficiency and home ownership. In August 2011, the Housing Authority of the County of Kern established the Housing and Opportunity Foundation of Kern (HOFK) for the specific purpose of raising funds from the general public and other sources to support programs and low income individuals in achieving self sufficiency.
